Introducing SkyBell HD: A Better, Smarter Video Doorbell

Then we launched SkyBell, our mission was to create useful, easy to use smart home products that make your home and neighborhood a safer place. Just over two years later, the home automation market has exploded and our mission has only strengthened – driving us to re-define what home security can and should be in today’s connected world. Today, we are thrilled to announce the third generation of our award-winning SkyBell video doorbell: SkyBell HD.

High-Definition Video, Full-Color Night Vision
With SkyBell HD, we’ve significantly improved the quality of our video in an effort to provide users with the clearest picture possible. SkyBell HD boasts a high-definition 1080p camera with 180 degree viewing angle – which means you will get a crystal clear view of whoever is at your door, no matter where you are in the world.

We’re also very proud that it’s the first smart doorbell to support full-color night vision — a critical feature when it comes to maintaining a safe home at night, when intruders are less likely to be seen.

Even more exclusive features
SkyBell HD is the first Wi-Fi doorbell to feature a temperature and humidity sensor – allowing users to see the exact temperature outside their home. Imagine how efficient it would make your smart thermostat if it knew the exact temperature outside your home, not just at the nearest airport.

SkyBell HD’s list of exclusive features also includes “Watch Live” on-demand video, a “Quiet Home” mode that helps keep babies asleep, and more.

A Home Security Platform
We believe, more strongly than ever, that the devices that keep us safe should also keep us connected, and make our lives easier. That’s why SkyBell HD is built on our new SkyBell Connect API platform. Select hardware and platform partners will soon work with SkyBell to provide meaningful user experiences. Imagine the day when your SkyBell turns lights on or tells your indoor camera to start recording.

Expanding SkyBell Cloud
SkyBell Cloud, our video recording service that saves your video sessions, is getting an upgrade with SkyBell HD. We’ve added the ability to record live video from a motion sensor trigger and when you can’t answer the video alert. All your videos will be saved to our secure cloud so you can watch or download them at any time, for free.

Make SkyBell HD Your Own
SkyBell HD features multi-color LEDs that give you the power to personalize your doorbell — so you can get festive during the holidays and show your team spirit on game day. You can also create ringtones in your own voice for your visitors, adding a little extra fun to your day.

Starting today, SkyBell HD is available for $199 for a limited time ($249 regular price) on and coming to other retailers soon, in time for the holidays. Sales are available for US customers only and currently works with iOS (Android coming soon). Currently, only the oil rubbed bronze finish is available.

Many of the new features in SkyBell HD are a direct result of the feedback we’ve received from our amazing community. As always, keep in touch with SkyBell on Facebook or Twitter to let us know what you like or want to see next — we’d love to hear from you!
